Or Taba; Small area of disputed territory, 1 km/0.6 mi long, between Eilat (Israel) to the E and the Sinai Desert (Egypt) to the W on the Red Sea. Under an Anglo-Egyptian-Turkish agreement 1906, the border ran through Tabah; under a British survey of 1915 headed by T E Lawrence (of Arabia), who made “adjustments” allegedly under British government orders, it runs to the E. Taken by Israel 1967, Tabah was returned to Egypt 1989.
