(1883-1966) Italian painter. As a member of the Futurist group, he was influenced by both Cubism and the Neo-Impressionism of Seurat and developed a semiabstract style, using patterns to suggest movement. His Suburban Train Arriving in Paris 1915 (Tate Gallery, London) is typical of this period. From the 1920s he worked in a Neo-Classical mode. He expounded his ideas in a book Du Cubisme au Classicism 1921.
