1. A member of the Shoshonean people of northeastern Arizona.
2. The Shoshonean language spoken by the Hopi people.
Native American people, presently numbering approximately 9,000, who live mainly in pueblos in the SW US, especially NE Arizona. They farm and herd sheep and live in stone and adobe houses, forming small towns on rocky plateaus. Their language belongs to the Uto-Aztecan family.
