Or Yesenin, (1895-1925) Soviet poet, born in Konstantinovo (renamed Esenino in his honor). He went to Petrograd 1915, attached himself to the Symbolists, welcomed the Russian Revolution, revived peasant traditions and folklore, and initiated the Imaginist group of poets 1919. A selection of his poetry was translated in Confessions of a Hooligan 1973. He was married briefly to US dancer Isadora Duncan 192223.
